Imagine you are back in the days of Ernest Hemingway, prospecting for giant fish in remote untouched areas, but doing it in comfort and with style! This place is exactly that, only it is available to you today!
Productive fishing is found only 1 mile offshore from the lodge. This is because the Sierra Madre Mountains that run along Costa Grande extend into the ocean and then immediately drop off, creating vast deep waters that provide the perfect habitat for migratory trophy fish. Because the deep blue water is so close to shore, using the 22”-24’ open pangas with tillers to fish from is comfortable and very affordable!
You will be in a remote location – no night life here, unless relaxing with drinks and friends and nursing sore muscle from wrestling big fish is enough for you. It’s remote, meaning serious sportfishing vessels are hard pressed to travel far enough to reach these fishing grounds. It’s one of the reasons why Sport Fishing Magazine ranked this AS THE SECOND-BEST AREA IN THE WORLD FOR SAILFISHING. In general, the so-called “high season” (generally best fishing for migratory fish) is April through August. So how big do these fish get? Black marlin show up April thru July and can weigh anywhere from 250 to 500 pounds. The yellowfin, which are around from May until August, can tip the scale past the 200-pound mark. Roosters can exceed 50 pounds plus, and dorado can reach even bigger! Keep in mind that summer is the rainy season, especially in August and September, but it can rain any time after about June 15. Billfishing is prime in December/January, which is the peak of the migration (although there are always resident fish around too), and roosters are prime in July/August.
Most species can be readily caught with fly tackle (especially sailfish and dorado), but others can be very tough (especially roosterfish and snook), and will likely require you to use spinning tackle with artificials or live bait to be successful.
But despite all this great angling, you’ll probably be the only boat on the water when you fish with this outfit. This section of the Costa Grande coastline is too far away for the nearest big chartered fishing vessels in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo to travel to on a regular basis. Fishing here is normally done only by the few fishermen in this village of 100 people! You will fish from the old standby in these waters, the panga, with folding Bimini or T-tops for shade. It is plain but very seaworthy and very fishable for 2 to 3 people typically. No long runs to the fishing grounds, and land is in sight all day long. Don’t expect strip malls or luxury spas here – instead you’ll get pristine beaches, litter-free coastlines, and friendly, welcoming people who aren’t caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily city life. Very relaxing!
LODGING & MEALS
This fishing lodge offers simple comforts for those who love the outdoors. It is located along a private half-moon-shaped soft sand beach. The lodge is an adobe building that features 5 basic rooms, each with their own bathroom and air conditioning. They are on a well system, and there is no warm water until the afternoon sun warms it up a bit (morning showers are cool but refreshing). Cool off with a soak in their small outdoor pool and then unwind under a thatched-roof palapa on the beach, enjoying the ocean scenery and sunsets while sipping a frosty beer. Each oceanview room has a private entrance. These little perks are nice, but what you’ll remember the most about this operation (aside from the fishing, of course) will be the fantastic Mexican food and friendly service. There is a cell phone hot spot that works for most international plans. We recommend having a translation app on your phone as this makes it easier to communicate with the staff and guides, who generally speak little English.
Fresh snacks and drinks are always within reach. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are also included during your stay. Savor authentic Mexican fare and a wide range of seafood dishes, including fresh-caught fish prepared by a talented chef. They will even prepare and serve some fish that you may catch and wish to keep, however, as these are tribal lands and waters, they are not equipped or permitted to keep fish for you to take back home with you. So no coolers!

A 50% deposit is required to book. Deposits are non-refundable, but can be used for up to 2 years from date of deposit for re-scheduled bookings.
GETTING THERE
You will fly into Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo airport (typically via Mexico City), which is about halfway between Puerto Vallarta and Acapulco. If you arrive prior to 6:00 PM any day of the week, they will pick you up at the airport and drive you to the lodge, which is about an hour away. If arriving after 6:00 PM, you will have to overnight in town and they will pick you up the next morning at your hotel. Staff will be waiting to greet you with freshly-made margaritas, and the rest of the day is about helping you settle in and relax.

Highlights of Trip
This trip was outstanding. We had such a good
time. We got to share the lodge with another group
that had booked at the same time. We made some
great friends out of this trip. The fishing was great.
We caught 9 sailfish and over 20 dorado/mahi as
well as many other fish. We got to see humpback
whales, dolphins, sea turtles and many fantastic
sunrises and sunsets. The staff at the lodge was
great and kept us very comfortable.
