Alaska Trophy Moose, Brown/Grizzly & Black Bears Plus Fishing #155

ABout this Adventure

We at Hunt Nation are very excited to be working with this high-quality operation. As we always do before bringing on any outfitter, we did our due diligence and contacted numerous previous clients of this operation. Rarely have we heard such effusive praise! We were very impressed.

“My experience was top notch. He was great with conversation, setting up camp from A-Z, and overall more prepared for the outdoors than anyone I have ever been with. His vast knowledge of being in the wild was incredible for his age. His understanding of the terrain and glassing for animals was impressive. He spent hours looking and explaining behavior and a plan. We hiked a lot and he was understanding of my age and the fact that I could not keep up with him, and was patient if we had to slow down or take a break. If I had the money, I would go on any type of hunting trip ever year with him. Even a fishing trip. He was 1st class and cannot suggest him high enough.” – Jeff N.

Founded by seasoned, licensed guides with decades of experience in Alaska’s unforgiving backcountry, they specialize in customized guided hunts for trophy moose, grizzly/brown bear and black bear in remote areas. Every trip is carefully designed to fit your needs – whether you’re hunting as a group of friends, with your family, or alongside your partner for an unforgettable shared experience.

HUNTS OFFERED

Baited Brown/Grizzly Bear – This Alaskan bear hunt combines comfort, convenience, and adventure. As these hunts take place right off the road system, once you land in Anchorage, your flying is done, and you can be in the field hunting the very same day (camp is approx. 3-hour drive from Anchorage). These 7-day hunts take place in Unit 13 in the month of June and are conducted mainly from stands/blinds over bait, with some spot & stalk, for rifle or archery hunters. Hunters should be prepared for 8- or 9-hour all-night sits (virtually no darkness in the spring in Alaska!). Opportunity is usually close to 100%, and success is historically over 90%, with most bears going around 8ft (but they have taken up to 9ft). Up to two brown/grizzly bears can be taken, and a black bear can also be added. These are physically easy hunts, with ATV access (trails are rough). Camp consists of camper trailers with real beds, hot showers and home-cooked meals.

“The guides are experienced and know how to take care of their clients. I was very safe and comfortable during the hunt. Accommodations were great. The total hunt cost was lower than a lot of other outfitters. The hunt was accessible from Anchorage and did not require an additional charter flight to camp. Just a few hour drive to camp. When you are successful on a hunt, it is a little easier to give positive feedback, but even if I did not harvest, in six days I got five stalks on brown bears and to me that is a successful archery hunt. To get that close to brown bears in the interior country of Alaska is a tough task. They asked me to stay an additional day to continue the hunt, and that was what I needed to harvest the brown bear.” – Dale H.

Spot & Stalk Brown/Grizzly Bear – As these hunts take place right off the road system, once you land in Anchorage, your flying is done, and you can be in the field hunting the very same day (camp is approx. 3-hour drive from Anchorage). These 10-day hunts take place in Unit 13 in late July, for rifle or archery hunters. Opportunity is usually approx. 85%, and success is historically 60%-70%, with most bears going around 8ft (but they have taken up to 9ft). Up to two brown/grizzly bears can be taken, and a black bear can also be added. These hunts are usually physically easy to moderate. Base camp consists of camper trailers with real beds, hot showers and home-cooked meals. However, for remote opportunities, spike camps may also be utilized.

Brown/Grizzly Bear & Fishing Combo Float Trip – This is a trip designed for those seeking not just a trophy, but an unforgettable Alaskan experience. These 10-day fly-in trips take place in Unit 19 in late August, which is one of the most dynamic and rewarding times to be in Alaska. The rivers are alive with running salmon, berry patches are heavy with fruit, and the bears know it. This is when opportunity is at its peak. Stealthy rafts are used to access prime fishing holes where big bruins come to feed. For hunters seeking more adventure, a hike into the berry fields above the river can be just as productive. Afternoons often bring world-class fishing for trophy rainbow trout, char and grayling, and when the salmon runs are strong, the action can be non-stop.

Hunting is spot & stalk for both rifle and archery, so expect to do lots of glassing. Opportunity is usually approx. 90%, and success is historically approx. 70%, with most bears going around 8.5-9ft (but they have taken up to 9.5ft+). A black bear can also be added. These hunts are considered physically moderate. Camp consists of quality tents with cots (bring your own sleeping bag), and camps are moved every 3 or 4 days as you float. Meals are a mix of fresh and freeze-dried foods.

Moose & Brown/Grizzly Bear Combo Hunt – For many, a bull moose is the ultimate Alaska hunt. Few moments compare to the heart-pounding rush of calling back and forth with a rutting bull, followed by the sheer awe of standing over an animal of such massive size once it’s on the ground. These hunts typically involve flying into a remote lake and hunting the surrounding area, but float trips are also available. Each method is tailored to the terrain, the conditions, and the client, based on your goals and physical ability. All hunts require additional bush travel after you land in Anchorage, putting you deep into true wilderness. From there, hunts are conducted from spike camps equipped with comfortable tents and cots (bring your own sleeping bag). Meals are a mix of fresh and freeze-dried foods, with plenty of snacks to keep you fueled.

These 15-day trips take place in Unit 19 in the first half of September. Hunting is a combination of calling and spot & stalk, for both rifle and archery. Expect to do lots of glassing from high ridges. Opportunity on moose is usually approx. 95%, with success around 65-75%, and most bulls will run 61”-65” (but they have taken 70+”). Opportunity on brown bear is usually approx. 90%, and success is historically approx. 70%, with most bears going around 8.5-9ft (but they have taken up to 9.5+ft). A black bear can also be added. These hunts are considered physically moderate to hard. Weather is always a factor, so you should be prepared to lose several hunting days to weather delays.

“If you want ‘lip service’, flashy websites and a bunch of fake professional photos this is not your guy. If you are looking for someone who is truly genuine, passionate and willing to work at what he loves, Cooper is the right outfitter for sure. He conveys what he can and can’t do clearly and accurately.” – Tony C.
