On the Texas coast, there’s a rare kind of day that begins with a fly or spin rod in hand, unfolds in a duck blind, and ends around the table with fresh Gulf seafood. This is one of the few destinations where world-class fishing, diverse waterfowl hunting, and refined coastal hospitality come together seamlessly.
Nestled along the storied waters of San Antonio Bay, this lodge provides access to an expansive and remarkably productive ecosystem. Anglers pursue redfish, trout, and other prized species across miles of pristine flats, while hunters encounter an impressive variety of migratory ducks drawn to the region’s fertile marshes and open water—thirteen species in all.
“I don’t have the words to capture how fantastic the facility, meals, hospitality, and the guides were. Everything was terrific!”
Bordered by more than 100,000 acres of protected national wildlife refuge, the surrounding landscape of wetlands, tidal shorelines, and barrier beaches creates a haven for both marine life and waterfowl. The result is an experience defined by abundance, beauty, and opportunity.
The seasoned guides bring decades of local knowledge, pairing guests with the right water, the right conditions, and the right approach each day. Whether you’re an experienced sportsman or new to the pursuit, trips are tailored for each outing to ensure it’s both productive and memorable. Families, groups of friends, corporate teams, and solo travelers alike will find a welcoming atmosphere and comfortable accommodations designed to unwind after a full day outdoors.
THE FLY FISHING
The Lodge is proudly recognized as the only Sage Experiences outfitter in the lower 48 United States, an exclusive destination demo program for anglers who appreciate top-tier performance.
During your stay, enjoy complimentary access to premium Sage rods and RIO lines—professionally matched to the species you’re targeting. Bring your own gear if you prefer, but take advantage of the opportunity to demo world-class tackle at any time, at no extra cost. It’s where elite equipment meets an elite fishery.
Run to remote creeks and shallow flats aboard our ultra-light poling skiffs, then glide silently into position as your guide pushes you within casting range of tailing redfish and subtle wakes in clear water.
Sight fishing is about the hunt. You see the fish. You make the cast. You watch the take. Then it’s game on.
Few thrills compare to fighting a powerful redfish in shallow water—and nothing feels better than releasing it back into the wild, completing the experience. This portion of the Texas coast has remained pristine and benefitted greatly over the last decade from conservation minded anglers and outfitters.
“Top-notch service, food, lodging, and guided fishing at Bay Flats Lodge. The staff are happy and helpful…the business is very well-managed. We look forward to going again to be pampered while enjoying the gorgeous Texas coast and catching some keepers.”
THE BAY FISHING
Are you not a Fly Fisher, no problem here. Whether you prefer fishing live bait from the boat, drifting the bays, or wading the shallows with artificial lures, the waters surrounding our lodge offer fast-paced action for
anglers of every age and skill level. Our experienced guides provide hands-on instruction—teaching you when, where, and how to present the right lure to the speckled trout and redfish that inhabit this water.
These guides specialize in targeting all available species with the interest of the conventional tackle angler in mind. Let these pros put you on the fish.
WADE FISHING
Wade fishing at the Lodge is an experience unlike any other. Standing shin-deep in warm Gulf waters, you’re fully immersed in the environment—casting, stalking, and connecting with the fish on their level.
It’s an active, hands-on approach that feels raw, personal, and incredibly rewarding. Many wade anglers will tell you that the stealthy approach is the best way to catch true Trophy Speckled Trout.
They target the same prized species found throughout the bay system—redfish, speckled trout, and flounder—using both live bait and artificial lures. Choose to release your catch or keep select fish for a fresh coastal dinner or to take home.
For many guests, wading the flats isn’t just another option—it’s the most authentic way to experience the waters the lodge owners are proud to call home.
DUCK HUNTING
The Texas Coastal Bend is one of the most productive waterfowl regions on the Gulf Coast. Vast marshes, open bays, and protected wetlands create ideal habitat for both resident and migratory birds. Each season, strong flights of gadwall, widgeon, pintail, canvasback, redhead, and teal funnel into the area—providing consistent action and memorable hunts.
The Lodge places you in the heart of it all. The surrounding ecosystem is expansive and diverse, offering the rare opportunity to chase ducks at daybreak and target redfish or trout that same afternoon.
From brushed-in marsh blinds set over carefully placed decoys to shoreline setups where birds finish with wings locked overhead, every hunt is guided by experienced professionals who understand the patterns, habitat, and behavior of local species.
CAST AND BLAST
For a short season around the end of the year, this lodge proudly offers an unbelievable opportunity for a cast and blast scenario. You might sight fish with a Fly rod under a bluebird sky day and hunting the morning or evening, or taking advantage of a winter gray day for a morning or evening of hunting and a day of wading and throwing plastics for trophy trout. This is a very short season with limited opportunity to get to the lodge, so if this is interesting to you and your group, plan on booking well in advance and get in touch with us soon.
THE LODGING AND FOOD
They say you come for the fishing and hunting—but you stay for the food and lodging. From the moment you arrive, it’s clear this lodge has spared no expense in elevating every detail of the guest experience. Each room is thoughtfully designed and meticulously appointed, blending comfort with refined Texas charm. With nearly a dozen distinct accommodation options, the property caters seamlessly to solo anglers, couples, corporate retreats, and full family gatherings alike.
The dining experience is just as memorable as the days afield. Start with a hearty, made-to-order breakfast, enjoy a satisfying lunch on the water, and return in the evening to a dinner that lives up to the old saying that “everything’s bigger in Texas.” Generous portions, bold flavors, and warm hospitality define every meal.
After a full day of adventure, you’ll head to bed pleasantly exhausted—recounting stories of the day with a full belly and already looking forward to tomorrow.
