Managua is a well-established city, with most all modern conveniences and infrastructure that offers the hunters a much wider variety of things to do, outside the hunting fields. You are not trapped in a hunting lodge with no options of anything much to do. Managua is a thriving metropolis with large malls, gourmet restaurants, nightlife, historical sites, spas, 5 star accommodation’s, pools, sauna, whirlpools, and business centres’, and meeting halls. Nicaragua has been announced by the NATO, as one of the safest countries in Central America.
When taking your hunting expedition to Nicaragua, you and your buddies have a unique opportunity to hunt in lush rice, sorghum, and peanut fields forty minutes outside of central Managua. No need to dread the car ride to your early morning hunting sessions, because the outfitter’s cars are comfortable air-conditioned vans and eighty-percent of the drive time is on smooth, paved roads.
Most hunters judge a hunt by the number of birds killed. That’s where this outfitter begins, but it is not where they end. The outfitter will go out of his way to make the trip a fantastic memory even in the unlikely event that it was raining the entire time or the birds just weren’t flying.
According to the Economist (and the United Nations), Nicaragua is one of the safest countries in Central America, even as safe as Costa Rica, its neighbor to the south. But everyone knows you can find trouble anywhere. The outfitter makes sure you don’t. stray.

From the time you kick your newspaper out of the doorway until the time you return, you are the focus of the outfitter’s attention. You will have a shadow man everywhere you go; to translate, fetch whatever you need and he’ll be waiting for you when you’re walking out the door of the casino at 3:00am. Duck/Dove Hunting
Grab your shotgun shells and head to the fields, because Nicaragua has 90% – 95% white-winged dove and 5%-10% mourning dove flying in for the hunt. There is no need for hunting dogs on this trip because he hirea local bird boys out of the community, which benefits them because they get paid by us as much as four times the amount they would earn working in the fields.
A typical hunt consists of 3 days of shooting with the traditional morning and evening sessions. You may choose all doves or duck and perhaps a day of fishing if you like, in any combination. Some of the inclusions mentioned above are features in their “Executive Hunt” and they also offer the “Buddy Hunt” as a more budget-minded package.
Accommodations:
Instead of being trapped in a tight-quartered lodge in the middle of nowhere, the outfitter puts you up at the Inter-Continental Hotel located in Managua, Nicaragua. No other hotel or tent in the woods can do any better at providing the essential amenities while also focusing on your hunting purposes.
The Inter-Continental is only a ten minute drive from the International Airport and a forty minute drive from duck/dove enriched fields.

Duck Hunting Season spans November to February but is at its best during December and January.. Yes, occasionally you do need to get into the mud. Large rice fields, plenty of water and food. Ducks are generally unwilling to come to decoys, so pass shooting and fireworks/stirred-up ducks is the action or perhaps small puddles or marshes. Ducks come in to rest or roost, with shooting over decoys and electronic or mouth duck calls to mostly blue-wing teal. Sometimes in the rice fields, you don’t even have to get wet; you just walk around the levee’s and go to the spot and crawl into the tall grass and that serves as a natural blind. Sometimes you have to get onto boats. It depends on the amount of rain, the amount of rice and the different areas; you might even get into the water waist deep and shoot from there. Of course, the outfitter takes into account the shape of the hunters and adjusts accordingly.
Blue-wing and green-wing teal, shovelers (spoon bills), pintails, widgeons and some other puddle ducks are the most common targets. Over 50% of the harvest are blue-wing teal. These can be hunted from November to end of April. Fulvous Tree Ducks and Black Bellied Tree ducks will mostly respond to mouth calls that are whistling duck and these can be hunted almost all year long.
Average amount of ducks taken per every Hunt: 10 – 20 Ducks
If the hunt is your priority for the day, leave the hotel around 5:30 to 6:00 am, arrive at the fields about 45 minutes later. Sometimes, the birds are so abundant, you may get up later and get out there at around 9:00 am and go 6/7 straight hours and just have lunch delivered to the fields. It depends on the situation; so you might shoot duck for 45 minutes or even a solid hour or so (and then the birds leave, or you might stay and shoot as late as 1:00 pm, perhaps having moved a couple of times. (in that event, you would call that a full day of hunting)
Typically you do the Duck hunting in the morning and dove hunting in the afternoon. That is true for about 60% to 70% of the time.
After 4/5 hours of shooting, expect to go thru 6 to 10 boxes of shells (which run $14.00 a box). The outfitter needs two hunters for dove and four shooters for ducks or it’s hard to keep the ducks moving. If he has only two people, they need to take rockets and firecrackers to keep the birds moving. As with most of these type trips, it makes sense to combine the hunters they have and that makes a great hunt for everyone. This is why they have an incentive for 10 or more. They take the economy of scale and invest that in quality huntll
Fresh water fishing is 40 minutes away in Lake Granada. The outfitter starts this combo trip by fishing from 6:00 am till 10:00 am, come back thru the historic town of Granada, have lunch and enjoy hand rolled cigars, fine cognac then head out to the fields for the afternoon dove hunt…what a day!
Perch, Brim and 5 to 7 pound Rainbow Bass. The other light tackle fishing would be on the island of Omatepe, which is good year round.

Most important is that we have it here for you, and if time allows, you may take it when you want. Part of this tour includes stopping for some of Nicaragua’s famous cigars, and cognac sipping.

Emergency Evacuation Insurance – Another exclusive, this package contains EEI. Ever thought of being in a third-world country while on a hunting trip, and God forbid your partner shoots you by accident. Or you fall and get multiple fractures. Or say the old ticker wants to throw a fit. You are now stuck in a third world country, with let’s say, less than acceptable hospital facilities. You need to get out quick, get somewhere for proper treatment. Getting flights and the appropriate care in flight is going to be time consuming and expensive. With the EEI, if that happens, we will personally fly you on private jet or first-class air, without delay, to a hospital of your choice in your city. Absolutely free of charge.
Cell Phones Provided – Upon arrival in Managua Airport, your group will be given cell phones, with a $ 50.00 USD credit on the phone.
