An Authentic English Stalking Experience in the Heart of Norfolk
From $6,000 — All Inclusive
Experience traditional English deer stalking on private land in Norfolk, just 90 minutes from London. Combining exceptional hunting, beautiful countryside, and historic English hospitality, this five-day, four-night package offers an unforgettable sporting adventure.
The estate supports healthy populations of Chinese Water Deer (CWD) and muntjac, with a diverse landscape of open farmland, mature woodland, hedgerows, and field margins. Each outing presents a different challenge, making this an ideal destination for hunters who appreciate close-range stalking and the skill of traditional field craft.
Your days begin before sunrise, heading into the countryside for a first-light stalk. Following breakfast at the Manor, you’ll have time to relax and enjoy the estate before heading back into the field for an afternoon or evening hunt, depending on conditions.
At the end of the day, return to the comfort of Gowthorpe Manor, a Grade II listed Elizabethan country house dating to the 1520s. Enjoy a full English breakfast, relaxed lunch, and locally sourced three-course dinner, with house drinks included throughout your stay.
The Hunting
The Gowthorpe Manor Estate encompasses approximately 1,000 free-range acres of mixed arable farmland, woodland, hedgerows, and field edges, providing ideal habitat for both CWD and muntjac. Several thousand additional acres are available, including those who may want fallow deer, when in season.
Stalking is conducted in the traditional English style, with an emphasis on patience, observation, and close-range shot opportunities. Early mornings and late afternoons offer the best conditions for encountering deer as they move through the estate.
Gowthorpe Manor
Your home during the hunt is Gowthorpe Manor, a historic Elizabethan manor house at the center of the estate. With oak beams, period furnishings, sporting artwork, trophies, and a welcoming country-house atmosphere, the Manor provides an authentic taste of rural England. Comfortable individually furnished bedrooms and a traditional roll-top bath offer a relaxing retreat after a day in the field.
Meals are served at the Manor and feature a traditional full English breakfast, relaxed lunch, and three-course dinner, with house drinks included.
